L7 Solutions is an IT consulting company in Perth, Western Australia. Tommy was hired to lead their brand new development team. Tommy’s role at L7 was Practice Lead.

The projects he was working on during his time at L7 was:

Thyssenkrup
Thyssenkrup is an engineering company based in Perth, WA. The project I was doing with them was a transmittal management system through SharePoint. My role for this project is Technical and Practice Lead where I was involved in the initial meeting to gather requirements, time quotation and pre-sales. During the development I architected and supervised one of my team members who did the actual “hands-on” development.

Fluor
Fluor is an engineering company based in Perth, WA. My role for this project is Technical and Practice Lead where I was involved in the initial meeting to gather requirements, time quotation and pre-sales. During the development I architected and supervised one of my team members who did the actual “hands-on” development.

City of Stirling
City of Stirling is looking to upgrade their Intranet from SharePoint 2007 (MOSS) to SharePoint Server 2010. My role in this job is to perform the upgrade with adhering to SharePoint best practice. I also do the “whole 9 yards” from requirement gatherings, interview with the stakeholders, conducting weekly status update meetings, architecting and developing the solution itself, testing and deployment.

During the course of the project I follow L7 Solutions’ internal project management methodology that specifies a minimum set of documents that need to be produced as deliverables.

I also ensure that I follow a tight and strict upgrade procedure. I make sure that disaster recovery process is followed therefore the upgrade process is seamless from the user point-of-view. If ever the upgrade fails, the system will easily be rolled-back to what it was previously.

Mega Uranium
Mega Uranium runs several projects such as Intranet, timesheet application, etc.

My role in this project is to do the “whole 9 yards” from requirement gatherings, interview with the stakeholders, conducting weekly status update meetings, architecting and developing the solution itself, testing and deployment.

During the course of the project I follow L7 Solutions’ internal project management methodology that specifies a minimum set of documents that need to be produced as deliverables.
Agile Development Methodology is also applied on the project.

City of Geraldton
The project is to build an Intranet for the council. My role on this project is to supervise my team member to ensure that he adheres to L7 Solutions’ internal development and project management methodology.

I also go on-site at times to provide technical help to my colleagues.

Decmil Australia
Decmil Australia is implementing a subcontractor management system that allows subcontractors to register for projects and tenders. The application is an ASP.NET front-end that is integrated with SharePoint as the document management system to store all tender and project documents.

My role in this project is to do the “whole 9 yards” from requirement gatherings, interview with the stakeholders, conducting weekly status update meetings, architecting and developing the solution itself, testing and deployment.

During the course of the project I follow L7 Solutions’ internal project management methodology that specifies a minimum set of documents that need to be produced as deliverables.

Agile Development Methodology is also applied on the project.

L7 Training
L7 Solutions just expands its business unit into training. The project was developed in custom ASP.NET with integration with SharePoint for reporting.

My role was to sit down with the client, gathering requirements and performing the technical work itself.

The application was developed using enterprise architecture approach. It’s developed using LINQ to SQL, design patterns, caching, logging, etc.

The first phase of the project was finished satisfactorily and the client was very happy with the result. It was finished on time and on budget. The project is still on-going with a lot more changes and updates to it.

Agile development methodology is also applied during the process. I pro-actively arranging meeting with the client for UAT and progress updates.

OPHIR Energy
The engagement was to fix their SharePoint Project Server site. I managed to fix the problem and their SharePoint Project Server site is now up and running again. The database was upgraded from SQL 2000 to SQL 2008.

I also performed a SharePoint Health Check and managed to produce documentation and recommendations on the things that can be improved on their SharePoint farm.

Legal Aid WA
I was sent to Legal Aid WA as a SharePoint advisor and consultant. During the engagement my role is to perform a set of health check tasks on their current MOSS 2007 farm. I had to analyse their farm configuration (IIS, SQL, SharePoint, etc) and their development and deployment procedures.

I managed to write a report about what needs to be improved in terms of security governance, documentation, development and deployment procedures and MOSS farm configuration itself.

Western Australia Treasury Corporation (WATC)
Enterprise Intranet using Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007. The Intranet implements custom site definition, event receivers, feature receivers, InfoPath Forms, custom content types and columns.

It also integrates with TRIM (document management system) and has the ability to display and search documents stored in TRIM.

I’m also involved in liaising with the clients for requirements gathering such as meeting with the stakeholders and interviewing individual department coordinator.

I was also involved in writing the functional and technical specifications of the Intranet.

The project was finished on time and the client was very happy with the results.

CITIC Pacific Mining (Enterprise Intranet with Microsoft Office Sharepoint Server 2007)
The Intranet implements custom site definition, InfoPath forms, event receivers, feature receivers, Content Deployment Tool, Extranet provisioning, custom content types and columns. The engagement also involves providing best practice advice for their development team and developing portal sites for each department within the company.

I also sat within the IM team managing and maintaining the information within the portal.

I’m also involved in liaising with the clients for requirements gathering such as meeting with the stakeholders and interviewing individual department coordinator.

I was also involved in writing the functional and technical specifications of the Intranet.
The project was finished on time and the client was very happy with the results.

L7 Solutions (Enterprise Intranet with MOSS 2007)
The Intranet implements custom web parts that interface with external system and custom site definitions. My task includes maintaining and developing internal Intranet within L7 Solutions, leading the internal development team and implementing Sharepoint best practice within the company.
